Energy efficiency goes a long way

The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) helps households save money on home heating costs by improving energy efficiency. Weatherizing homes often means adding more insulation, sealing leaks around doors and windows, and it always includes basic health and safety checks. An energy audit determines which weatherization measures will get the biggest bang for the weatherization dollars spent on each home. Weatherization can save 5-25 percent on home heating bills.

Who's Eligible?
Approved LIEAP applicants are automatically considered for WAP.    Once approved for LIEAP, a weatherization agency may contact the applicant to schedule a comprehensive energy audit of the home. A notice of approval doesn’t guarantee a household will receive WAP assistance that year as services are based on a priority point system, whereby priority is given to elderly, disabled and homes with children under five. WAP applications are accepted year-round.

WAP is funded by the US Department of Energy and US Department of Health and Human Services
and is administered by the Wyoming Department of Family Services.
